overcome

I sit back and meditate about life....
run down shoes,not knowing what our next meal would be,these are thing people dont know about me...
they say,she stuck up,she too good for me,sit back take the time to get to know the real dee...
living motel to motel,keeping my little brothers close to me..couldnt blame my mom cause she was doing the best she could for us...gettin joked on cause i gotta white mother,so i got cocky and started acting like a brother... .
nights,days,months,no electricity...
naw i didnt grow up all fly and spiffy,...
eating noodles and maybe just some jiffy,you gone see this and say naw not her...
mother being threatened by the man in her life,so at the age of 14 i walked in the kitchen and grabbed a knife...
almost lost my little brother when he was almost one year old...2 brothers gone and a sister that went her own way...
i promised myself that with my mother ima stay....
memories of my father,lay in the back of my head,my brother is just like him minus the dreads...
i pray every day he gets his life together..
going to school with a smile on my face,while deep down theres no smile that can be retraced..not wanting to go home,but knowing thats where i had to be..
everyday saying ima get away from these streets...
but yet you look at me and say naw not her...
my little brothers were my guiding light,when i just wanted to fight,and when i shed tears,they were always there to stop my fears...
be strong,we gon make it out this cycle..
thats what i tell em...
fighting each other cause were scared to live...
mom ready to breakdown cause,she no longer wanted to live...
if she only knew her love was the best thing to give...
theres more to this story,but ima hold thoses in memories..
.my life made me the woman i am today...
im blessed to have what i do have
